A bit about the philosophy of the Utopia ecosystem

The most accurate description of this product is that it is a natural extension of the Utopia plate, offering the ability to attach a variety of existing accessories, while also serving as DIGI legs.

What about the weight?

One 65 mm leg weighs 25 grams, so together with the Utopia plate, the total weight of the set is 730 grams, which is three times lighter than just the classic design DIGI plate.

How do they attach to Utopia?

NATO Stands attach to the Utopia plate through countersunk holes specifically designed for this purpose, using the included 3/8-16 screws. The Utopia plate features 8 Anti-Twist holes around these countersunk holes to ensure precise alignment. The legs have 8 adjustable positions, allowing you to select the optimal angle for your task. Once tightened, the screws prevent any movement or rotation, as each leg is equipped with 4 Anti-Twist pins to guarantee a secure, rigid connection.

What's the reasoning behind the creation of NATO Legs?

NATO Legs are designed to provide the necessary space for organizing your accessories beneath the laptop plate by elevating it above the surface of your cart or other workspace.

You're likely familiar with legs from other manufacturers, which are usually cylindrical and screw into the plate.

We've never been fond of that approach for a few reasons: first, they simply don't look appealing; second, they waste material, as they essentially just add four chunks of metal to your plate with no additional functionality; and third, standard legs tend to wobble due to rubber gaskets, and no one wants that.

After 1.5 years of development, we’ve engineered something better. NATO Legs come in three sizes—65, 90, and 115 mm—each with its own advantages. The 65 mm legs are ideal for users working with compact batteries like Anker or HyperJuice, while the 90 and 115 mm options are perfect for those who use V-mount battery solutions and need extra space underneath the plate.

Additionally, the 90 and 115 mm legs feature extra 3/8-16 and 1/4-20 threaded holes for mounting additional accessories, further enhancing their versatility. Every NATO Leg includes a central cutout for convenient cable management or attaching a carabiner, plus a 3/8-16 threaded hole at the base for rubber feet or other custom use.

NATO Legs are designed exclusively for use with the Utopia plate, forming a complementary part of the Utopia ecosystem.

We take great pride in the screws we’ve specifically designed for these legs. Made from Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy, these screws not only offer exceptional strength but also feature an innovative design that significantly reduces weight. Finished with a PVD coating, they maintain a sleek appearance for years to come. Remarkably, a set of four of these screws weighs less than a single steel screw of comparable size.

Not-so-obvious advantages

In some situations, 60, 90, or 115 mm may not be enough. In this case, you can screw in the legs that are already in your DIGI setup into the lower 3/8-16 hole to achieve the needed extension, and your lower back will appreciate this solution.
